We’ve All Been Carrying Car Seats the Wrong Way

Hauling around that heavy car seat—not to mention several pounds of baby—can take a toll on your back, neck, arm, you name it. And even though you promised you wouldn’t be one of those parents who bounces the car seat off of their leg when they walk, the weight of it all just makes it inevitable.

But as it turns out, we’ve all been carrying car seats the wrong way. Whether you’re a cradle carry type of parent or use the one-armed hook to tote your car seat, you’ll scrap them both when you learn what this chiropractor says to do.

Dr. Emily Puente of Bridge Family Chiropractic in Mansfield, Texas shared a video on Facebook showing how changing your arm placement can do wonders for distributing the weight of carrying a car seat.

“It’s not going to hurt your shoulder, it’s not going to hurt your hip, and you’re not going to have to use your knee to swing like I had to do with my two,” Puente says. The video now has over 4 million views and we can see why. We tested out this new way of carrying a car seat and let’s just say, it’s life-changing.
