Worn by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, to name a few, Balmain’s style game is on point and is about to get a whole lot cuter. The fashion house will launch its first-ever children’s collection this June in stores and online.
The Mini-sized collection will include 55 pieces personally designed by creative director Olivier Rousteing, featuring pieces from patterned tees to embroidered dresses. The designer’s infamous pieces like cropped jackets and stand-out embellishments will also make an appearance.
In fact, the upcoming collection—available in sizes for boys and girls ages 6 to 14—is so characteristic of Rouseting’s men’s and women’s styles that he jokes Balmain staffers even began referring to the kids models as “Mini Oliviers.”
One such Mini Olivier in the making who unsurprisingly served as an inspiration for the line is none other than Kanye and Kim Kardashian West’s two-year-old daughter, North. “I think I first thought about designing kidswear when I dressed North,” Rouseting shared with Vogue. “I had a conversation with Kim, and that was the beginning of how I really understood that the Balmain universe can also belong to kids.”
